“I know that there is a balancing act between ensuring our freedoms and ensuring our safety. I also know that playing partisan games on the issue of Homeland Security puts both our freedoms and our safety at risk.” - Charlie Dent
Congressman Dent’s colleagues appointed him the Ranking Member of the House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Emergency Communications, Preparedness and Response because of his knowledge of the issues involved. Charlie has worked diligently to meet the needs of our First Responders (Emergency Medical Technicians, Firefighters and Police Officers) not only in our communities, but also across the country. He has been a real leader in helping local First Responders receive training and equipment through homeland security grant funding.
Charlie has supported the Protect America Act, which ensures that our intelligence community has the tools it needs to detect and counter the activities of these foreign terrorists operating overseas. At the same time, he has voted against the abuse of prisoners and the use of torture, both of which promote the formation and growth of terrorist cells. Charlie’s diligent work on the Homeland Security Committee, and his knowledge of the issues involved, has earned him the respect of Representatives from both parties. Congressman Dent realizes the extreme importance of his work on the Committee charged with keeping America’s homeland safe from attack and will always do his utmost to protect our families and communities. |
